Sautéed Chicken

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 package raw chicken tenders (1-1 ½ lbs.)

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter*

  • 1 tbsp olive oil*

  • Salt and pepper*

  • Garlic Powder*

*indicates Kitchen Staple item

DIRECTIONS

In a large sauté pan, heat the butter and oil over medium-high heat. Sprinkle one side of the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add a little dried thyme, basil, or oregano, if desired. Place the chicken seasoned side down in the butter and oil and then season the other side. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Enjoy!

Serving options – This chicken is extremely versatile. Sometimes I add it to a big salad (with cucumber, tomato, my homemade croutons, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, candied walnuts or pecans and my almond butter dressing, see also my BBQ Chicken Salad Recipe).

To pair the chicken with sides, there are many possible combinations. I like to pick a starch (mashed potatoes, my roasted rosemary potatoes, or rice pilaf) and a veggie (sautéed green beans or asparagus, fresh green salad, steamed broccoli, roasted cauliflower, roasted broccolini, or sautéed brussels sprouts).

Wine Pairing

Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir

Kid Version

My kids love chicken cooked this way! Serve with sides your kids enjoy and make a quick dipping sauce for the chicken by combining ½ cup mayonnaise, ¼ ketchup, 1 tsp white vinegar, ½ tsp seasoned salt, ½ tsp black pepper, and ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (if your kids like spice).
