Brussels Sprouts

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 - 4 oz package chopped pancetta (skip this item for a pure veggie version)

  • Olive oil*

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter*

  • 1 package whole brussels sprouts

  • Salt and pepper*

  • Garlic powder*

  • Brown sugar*

 
 

DIRECTIONS

Cook the pancetta in a sauté pan until cooked through and crisp. Drain off any excess fat and set aside. Add the olive oil and butter to the hot pan. Chop the brussels sprouts in half. Add the chopped sprouts to the pan. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the sprouts are tender. Add a sprinkling of brown sugar and continue to cook until the sugar has caramelized on the brussels sprouts (2-3 minutes). Add the pancetta back to the brussels sprouts and toss to combine. Sprinkle with a little red pepper flake to add heat, if desired.

Note – for a pure veggie version, leave out the pancetta.
